What age groups does Kinder City accept?

Kinder City welcomes children from 6 months to 4 years old across our age-appropriate rooms designed to support every stage of early development.

How are children grouped at Kinder City?

Baby Room (6–20 months)
A calm, nurturing space with soft play, sensory activities, and cosy sleep areas. Babies follow their own routines with close support from dedicated staff.

Toddler Room (20 months–2.5 years)
Encouraging independence through early self-care skills, communication, physical development, and social play based on EYFS prime areas.

Preschool 1 (2.5–3.5 years)
Hands-on learning including simple cooking, early science, culture-based activities, and supervised toothbrushing — all designed to grow confidence and curiosity.

Preschool 2 (3–4 years)
A bright, fully refurbished space with natural resources. We gently support school readiness through independence, early literacy and numeracy, and strong social skills.

Does Kinder City offer outdoor play every day?

Yes — children enjoy outdoor play every day. Our newly refurbished garden includes dedicated baby areas, wooden play equipment, and soft surfacing, all designed to support exploration and physical development. A covered section ensures outdoor play in all weather.

What meals and snacks does the nursery offer?

Our in-house chef prepares fresh, healthy meals daily.

We offer:
• A free healthy breakfast (cereal & milk)
• Nutritious lunch and tea menus aligned with our healthy eating policy
• Vegetarian, vegan, allergy-friendly, and religious-diet options

We have proudly maintained a 5★ food hygiene rating for 10 years.

What are your staff-to-child ratios?

We follow the EYFS statutory ratios to ensure safety, attention, and high-quality care:

Baby Room: 1 adult to 3 children
Toddler Room: 1 adult to 5 children
Preschool: 1 adult to 8 children

What are your operating hours and academic term?

We open Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM, supporting busy and working families. Kinder City is open 48 weeks per year and closed on:

• All bank holidays
• 1 week at Christmas
• 1 week at Easter
• First 2 weeks of August

What are your funding and fee options?

We offer several childcare funding options:

• Funded places for eligible working parents from 9 months to 4 years
2-year funding for qualifying families
30-hour codes accepted 8:30am–3:30pm (term-time only)

Any hours used outside the funded period are charged at our standard hourly rate. We also offer flexible private fee-paying sessions to suit different childcare needs.

Do you offer extra hours and holiday care?

Yes — extra hours are available (subject to space) and charged at the standard hourly rate. We also offer holiday care, which can be booked in advance. Our manager is always happy to support families needing additional sessions.

What qualifications do staff hold?

All Kinder City staff are paediatric first-aid trained, DBS checked, and either qualified or working towards an early-years childcare qualification. Every room has Level 3 qualified practitioners present at all times.

Our management team is highly experienced — both our Manager and Deputy hold a BA in Early Childhood Education and together bring over 30 years of experience working in nurseries.

How do you communicate with parents?

We use Famly, one of the leading communication apps in early years settings. When your child joins Kinder City, you will receive your own login, allowing you to:

  • Send and receive daily messages
    View real-time updates (meals, nappies, sleep, activities)

  • Receive photos and observations

  • Check bookings, session times, and invoices

  • Keep track of your child’s development
